Deep Water Aerator

Case Study:
Lake Waldron, AR

In Waldron, Arkansas, our deep water bottom-diffused aeration system was installed at the municipal lake intake to address high manganese and color levels, resolving a state Order of Consent. Activated on September 13-14, 2014, it delivered rapid results in influent samples:

  • Raw Manganese: Dropped 80-95% from 2.5-4 ppm to 0.1-0.5 ppm

  • Raw Color Units: Decreased 60-85% from 300-400 to 50-150

  • Settled Turbidity (NTU): Improved 40-60% from 1.0-1.4 to 0.4-0.8

  • Settled Manganese: Fell 90-95% from 2-3 ppm to near 0.1 ppm

For the 1.6 MGD plant (584 million gallons/year), this reduced chemical usage by 50-80% for oxidation and coagulation, yielding annual savings between $88,000-$100,000
